Duaa Abu Hamza Thumali – Reflection 17

‎

“Would You, O’ Allah, ever disappoint our thoughts or let down our hopes? No never, O’ Most Generous!”

My dear one, ask yourself this question like Imam Sajjad(A) did. Do we really think that Allah would ever let us down? If not, if truly and deeply don’t think or believe so, then why do we put our hopes in other then Allah? Why do we place the trust of our hearts in other then Allah? Why isn’t this ideological intellectual belief of us firmly rooted in our hearts? Why isn’t this belief manifested in our deeds?

Prophet Yusuf’s(A) prison sentence was prolonged for several years because he for a twinkle of an eye put trust in other then Allah. Then what about us who commit this mistake several times a day while confessing that everything is in the hands of Allah?! We say “Allah is the sustainer” yet we go after haram or dubious money to increase our income. We say “Allah is the teacher” yet we think that our marifah is increased by our own efforts alone while we scorn Qarun for the same attitude but in regards to money. Abu Ali Sina used to make tawassul to Aba Abdillah al-Hossein(A) in complicated scientific matters which he couldn’t solve on his own. What about us?

Oh in what pitiful state we are! We boast of an iman we don’t have, or rather of an iman which is in the state of an idea and ideology inside our brains but which hasn’t been transferred to our hearts or manifested in our deeds yet, except on our tongues in the form of empty words. Allah would never let us down, it is we who let Him down! So let us make a pact with Allah during these last blessed days of this month that we from now on will turn first and foremost to Allah and see Him as the origin and source of all movement in the Universe! If we stand by Him surely we will be prosperous!
