Without passion in life man will wither and die out.
Date: 3 March 2010 at 08.53
bismillah,
such passion is indeed admirable, but also self destructive if not directed at reaching God – it takes over the life of its holder and makes him a slave to it, with every waking and resting minute shaped around meeting their goal. Just as the olympic athlete will eat, sleep, wake, train, or relax in a routine designed to help him reach his goal (on a side note, we can do this too- see here ). and as the hadeeth says, no man has two hearts in his chest.

@blisz
Yes sister, all passion should have Allah as the ultimate goal – no question about that. Sometimes it does happen however that you set out for one goal and fall on an entirely different goal as you transform during the progress of reaching that goal.
bismillah,
one of the hardest things i find is to let go of your own expectations, when starting an endeavour for His sake, and letting it go where He wants it to instead of where you thought it would. What is it with humans and the illusion of control.
best wishes, with salam.
