To me a blog is something personal. It depicts you are a person in your own words. You choose what you want to write about and what you want to bring forth about yourself. Many updates their blogs several times a day with what they have done, eaten and been dressed in during the day. Others write daily about politics, religion or other things which interest them in the world. Some also combine these. I probably fall under the category of those who combine the personal with the serious with the difference that I prioritize quality above quantity and I’d rather write from the heart when I’m in the mood with the consequence of writing less frequently, rather then writing more often just for the sake of writing and updating.

One cause of my updating frequency being less then others is that I commute pretty much. If I don’t work from home I spend 40-50 min in the car to work and another 40-50 min back home. During this period I don’t have much to do: I either listen to a lecture, to the Holy Quran or am just silent and reflect for myself.

That is when the idea of a new individual project to my blog hit me. Why not start to think loud and document the thoughts in the form of audio memoirs? The iPhone (which I own) has a recording function for memoirs, so why not use it?

I brainstormed further and so the new project was born which received the title: ”In the head of Ehsan”.

It started out in Swedish a couple of weeks ago and was appreciated by the listeners. One day I was thinking about all the old online friend I’ve had throughout the years when I spent more time on the international Islamic forums and I really missed them and wanted to re-establish some sort of connection with them. I began thinking, why not make an English version of ”In the head of Ehsan” so all who know me outside of Sweden also can follow my thoughts, development and life, especially now that I very rarely write post in English on various forums?

So what is ”In the head of Ehsan?”

It’s a podcast with a recording of approximately 10-15 min where I reflect around a certain topic. It could be everything from personal things to current public debats, politics, religion, technology, relationships – basically everything between heaven and earth.

These recordings occur completely spontaneously. There are no preparations, no notes, no main points, no researches, no recast or anything else. I just press the ”Record” button, start the recording and then let the heart and brain speak about a certain topic. No filtering, no revisioning, no censor. Just me and the microphone!

”In the head of Ehsan” is not like my lectures where I prepare and read up about a certain subject and often repeat and trai non the content before I deliver it so it hopefully becomes an inspiring speech for the listeners. But ”In the head of Ehsan” is different. The choice of words are sometimes repetitive, sometimes the tone of speech could be boring, sometimes it is a bit chaotic, especially considering that English is my 4th language. I don’t know how the result will be and I don’t rein the horse of tongue but let it run freely in the meadow of my thoughts.

The aim is to try and record a couple of episodes every week (one day in English, the other day in Swedish and so on) and put them up on the blog about every other day or something. But it could be that I’m not in the mood or on traveling foot or the like and thus there simple might not be an episode that week. Because thoughts you force forth are not healthy for the brain and will anyhow become boring sooner or later.

The recordings and the podcast come up in the form of entries here on the blog, so you can subscribe to the podcast (through RSS or iTunes) or just download the sound file to your MP3 player and listen to it when you feel for it (for example on the way to work/school). Of course you could listen to it live here on the blog if you so wish.

You as a listener can affect the content by commenting and suggesting topics you would like to hear me rattle about in my head. All feedback is more then welcome. This is as I mentioned an experiment and I have no idea what the outcome will be. We will have to wait and see, but it is really exciting!

From what I know though this is rather unique among bloggers, not to mention Muslims who blog, and thus I hope it will give my blog even more of the personal touch, the inspiring content and the regular updating frequency so it may be appreciated by the readers (and listeners)!

The first episode is out on Tuesday so keep your eyes open! :)
