New Year 2010 Bokeh

At new year’s eve I tried to capture some nice photos of the fireworks, without any success. The situation was hectic and the fireworks blasted off one after another so I didn’t have the time to adjust the camera to snap the photos in a satisfying way. So what I did instead was to capture my first bokeh photos ever!

In photography, bokeh is the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light.”

To take a bokeh photo direct the camera at an object, and out-focus it as much as possible. Zooming in as well might prove helpful. What I did basically was to direct the lens at the fireworks but out-focus them as much as possible – which creates the bokeh effect of circular light spheres. Pretty neat huh? :)
