The soul

The soul is of divine Character while the body is more “wordly”. Ponder upon
this couplet by Hafez,

I do not know who is inside this weary-hearted breast,
For though I am silent, He is in uproar and tumult.

What is Hafez refering to here ?
In the Creation of Adam (A) many Gems of Knowledge are there for the Seekers whose tool is Contemplation.
Now read this verse, and then once again ponder upon the couplet (few are those who think – Quran),

‘Have breathed into him (man) of My spirit’ (xv:29);

The Soul Lives in the Body, it is its abode, or prison if you wish.
That is why there are narrations which says when you die you should carefully and gently take care of the Body, as the Soul is still attached to it (considering it lived there for a long time).

Within the Soul the Sharia is already Manifested, things such as good and bad etc. Some call it consiouss…personally I just see it as one of the manifold Languages of the Soul.

There are different kind of pains. There is the bodily which we normally feel. There is the emotionall, when we are hurt for example. I belive there is also the spiritual, when you sin. As you sin you blacken your soul, until (God Forbid!) you fall into the poisonous Pit of Infidelity. The you have basically “killed” your soul. Also there is joy and pleasure for the soul. Such as bodily and emotional. For example when you do good deeds…the direct pleasure you feel is you feel good within…but what its real shape has inform is beyond imagination !
These Spiritual Pains and Pleasures you will See in Full shape when the Kiss of Death Tears apart this Veil on your eyes. Then you will behold the Unseen world to (a rank you can reach even in this life, but then you must free yourself from your desires, this is what Imam Ali (A) means in a hadith when he says that his Iman is so strong that even if the curtain of the Unseen is removed, his Faith will not increase). And as stated in many Verses and Narrations, the Deeds of this World will Manifest in “Bodily” Shape.

So. he who has done an atom’s weight of good shall see it
And he who has done an atom’s weight of evil shall see it.
/ Holy Quran 99:7-8

As regards to Sleep, this is when Allah takes your Soul Back up to the Divine Court. From what I’ve heard, the Soul takes account for its Action and its also Purified by Angels depending upon its state.

And He it is Who takes your souls at night (in sleep), and He knows what you acquire in the day, then He raises you up therein that an appointed term may be fulfilled; then to Him is your return, then He will inform you of what you were doing.
/ Holy Quran 6:60

And Allah Knows Best whom the Tongue of the ‘Urefa (Knowers) Fall short of Praising.
