a homeless dog

and a lamenting soul within
i turn to you once again
a homeless dog filled with pain

i have wandered astray
now back home i seek a way
i am your fleeing slave
a homeless dog who crave

i am clothed in neediness
in your friendship me dress
light my candle of hope
tie me to your eternal rope
your lonesome servant tame
a homeless dog filled with shame

i mourn with silent words
yet my spirit bark like birds
from all but you stitch my eyes
a homeless dog after you cries

i long to see your full moon
hear my sorrowful tune
O Lord, at your threshold i kneel
please, your homeless dog heal

“ Behind every ‘O Lord!’ of thine, are a thousand ‘Here I Am!’ “
