There is a saying I’m quite sure my wise sister and brother is aware about….Every Day is Ashura, Every Land is Karbala. For some this might mean that one should have azaa everyday for Imam Hussein (A). We also have the 10 days of Muharram which we have these mournings and remembrance of Imam Hussein (A).
I don’t know what you belive, but personally to me the 10 days of Muharram and the saying above means to live up to Imam Hussein’s (A) Message. Do you think he will be happy in the highest place of Jenna, watching us hit and wail for what has happened….when we sit around like dumb people and close our eyes for the Oppression made ?
For those who interpret the above saying as you should mourn everyday…then no day means joy and you are not allowed to say Happy B-Day then either. For me the Story of Karbala and the Saying means that we should fight against oppression and help the weak. This is how we truly Love Imam Hussein (A) and this is how we truly follow him and remember him. Not by hitting ourselves sensles 10 days a year and shed some crocodile tears thinking, ”Hey I did a good worship today, now Imam Hussein (A) likes me” when we do nothing about the Karbala of today. Look upon Palestine, they are the true followers of Imam Hussein (A)…they fight…something we don’t. All the oppressed are the childrens of Hussein (A), 1,5 million children under 5 years has died in Iraq due to sanction of United Satan. Thousands are slaughtered and oppressed in Palestine. Africa is raped and left bleeding, with Allah knows how many thousand children dying out of thirst and hunger every SECOND ! In Bosnia genocide is made because you say La Illahe Ill Allah. A 8 year long war against Islamic Republic was made, not did the world just sit quiet…but they aided the Oppressors making millions Shaheed.
How can you do matam and close your eyes for what happens now ?

If you sincerly follow that saying, you will realize there is no such thing as 10 days of Muharram, or one day of Ashura 1400 years ago. You will see today is Ashura, and we are in Karbala…and everlasting day until tomorrow with the day of reckoning comes.

Hence I see no fault in cheering up my dear sister and giving her a small dua to make her spirit strong and her will like iron…so she can take up arms and continue to struggle of Imam Hussein (A) and truly act upon his message….and then when she does that….only then she is worthy of Mourning and Beating herself for Imam Hussein (A)

The remembrance of Imam Hussein (A) every year is just means for us to take it forth to reality and fight like he did, its not about lamenting without action.

This is the Message of Karbala, it about Fight to live another day…not live to fight another day….
